Sold to some 150 countries, and with two international remakes, The Bridge is SVT’s biggest export ever.
In the first season the severed halves of two corpses are placed at the exact middle of the Öresund Bridge – one half in Denmark, the other in Sweden. This brings together two unique investigators: the emotionally challenged Swede Saga (Sofia Helin) and the womanizing Danish family man Martin (Kim Bodnia). Apart from their clashing work styles, Saga and Martin also struggle with domestic problems.
After solving the case, which penetrated the highest levels of the two nation’s governments and societies, Saga and Martin are reunited in the second season, when a ship crashes into the bridge and the Coast Guard finds Swedish and Danish youths chained below deck. The case turns deadly when the youths fall ill: they’ve been infected with an extremely aggressive and contagious form of pneumonic plague…
In the third season Saga Norén teams up with a new Danish colleague, the brilliant but troubled detective Henrik Sabroe (Thure Lindhardt). They are chasing a violent killer, who poses the victims in the style and manner of well-known contemporary artworks.
Charismatic protagonists, and a spellbinding storyline, has made The Bridge an amazing success all around the world. The series is co-produced with DR, Filmlance and Nimbus Film.
