This documentary series, originally commissioned for the web, follows the lives of eight Swedish top models: Lina Sanberg, Therese Fischer, Mona Johannesson, Andrea Wahlgren, Linnea Hellbom, Anna Fritzdorf, Henrietta Hellberg and Hedvig Palm. It is a behind the scenes look at an industry with extreme demands and an absolute obsession with bodies and looks.
The Swedish supermodels lead extraordinary lives in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, London and Stockholm. But although the girls lifestyle may seem fancy and glamorous it is also tough and destructive to be constantly judged by your looks. Or as one of the models put it:
- If a girl has issues with self-esteem and self-image and comes into a job where it’s all about that, it can really fuck her up.
One of the models we meet is Mona Johannesson, whose face recently has been on billboards in airports all around the globe. She is one of Swedens most successful and well-paid models over the past decade. But Mona herself prefers being on her farm in the Swedish countryside, where nobody knows there is a supermodel walking around in sweatpants at the local grocery store.
