Life Should Be Lived

Are you ever to old to dream? In this documentary we meet 18 Swedish seniors, living in a nursing home for the elderly, who are unexpectedly given the chance to travel to Greece. It will probably be the last longer journey they make, and for some it will be their first.

This feelgood film was a huge success when aired in Sweden, and social media virtually exploded with likes and shares.

Dimitrios ”Tackis” Sahpekidis is a true powerhouse, regularly arranging activities and outings for the elderly in his small town community.

One day he gets the crazy idea to organize a trip to his native Greece for a large group of Swedish seniors.

Some of the elderly are disabled or suffering from dementia, but that doesn’t stop Dimitrios plans. ”Life should be lived, all the way to the end” – that is his cheerful motto.

In the film we get to follow their entire journey, from the first plans to the journey itself. Some of the elderly have never flown an airplane before, and most of them thought they would never be making such a big trip, this late in life.

In Greece the seniors get to enjoy eating melons on the beach, dancing the Zorba, drinking Retzina wine and taking a swim in the warm Mediterranean Sea.
