Karl Ove Knausgård – after My Struggle

How does one feel after having spent three intense years of writing 3,500 pages on ones own life?

In the autumn of 2011 Norwegian author Karl Ove Knausgård completed his mammoth project “My Struggle” (original title “Min kamp”). The six piece book series is a great
success and it has sold over a million copies in sixteen countries. The books have been hailed in reviews but also criticized for the way in which Knausgård exposes his family and friends.

In the film “Karl Ove Knausgård - after My Struggle” we meet an author who wanted to create the most true and honest autobiography ever written. But now that it’s done Karl Ove
Knausgård must face the consequences of his disclosures, alone in his writers hut in southern Sweden.

The film portraits Karl Ove Knausgård during the year after he finished writing “My Struggle”, an
enormous enterprise that has left him exhausted and depressed. We get to follow his everyday life in Sweden but also on book launches overseas, to New York and Barcelona. Karl Ove Knausgård also travels to his home country Norway were he meets his mother and other people appearing in “My Struggle”.

This documentary is an exclusive portrait of one of Scandinavia's most interesting authors. It also contains the only interview ever done with Karl Ove Knausgård together with his wife, author Linda Boström Knausgård.
