2016 was a year with many reasons to celebrate for the Swedish Royal Family. King Carl XVI Gustaf turned 70, two new princes were born and christened, and the royal couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
We follow the Royal Family during the festivities throughout the year as well as during their daily work, two state visits to Germany and Bhutan, and we join the King on a fishing trip in Mexico. Crown Princess Victoria was appointed an Advocate for UN Global Goals by Ban Ki-moon and she speaks of her work for the environment and the urgent action needed in climate issues. Queen Silvia takes us through the exhibition of wedding dresses at the Royal Palace, remembering her own big day in the Stockholm Cathedral.
Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip visit the princess home areas of Älvdalen to accept a wedding present, a stone bench placed at one of Sweden’s most beautiful lookouts. Princess Leonore Duchess of Gotland visits the island of Gotland for the first time, with her mother and father. Here she gets to meet the Gotland pony Heidi who was given to her as a christening gift.
