SVT is one of the world’s most award-winning TV companies at international festivals. In recent years drama series from SVT have won several international prizes, such as International Emmy®, Prix Europa, Banff Rockie Awards and The Golden Nymph, Prix Italia and Seoul Drama Awards.
Most recent awards include an International Emmy in the category Best Non-Scripted Entertainment for The Great Swedish Adventure. If Walls Could Talk was chosen by the EBU Community as Best Format at the 11th Eurovision Creative Forum. SVT’s team Hidden’s investigative piece Grades for Sale won a gold medal in the current affairs category at New York Festivals, and Prix Circom in the category Investigative journalism. The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest won a Rose D’Or Award in the TV Entertainment category. Feel-good documentary Life Begins at 100 won the AVAST Foundation Audience Award at One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Prague and The Rebel Surgeon won the Audience Poll Award at Krakow Film Festival. Our programs also tour festivals and forums, and are screened in co-operation with Swedish embassies across the world.
It is important for SVT to compete in international TV festivals for our content to reach a broader and international audience but also to make sure our programmes measure up to global standards.
We proactively submit entries to the leading festivals in the world, for example iEmmy, Prix Europa, Banff Rockie Awards, IDFA and more. We also submit programmes to other festivals, in particular ones supporting democracy and human rights.
